Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas Review

Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas

"This isn't happening at all. You're just visiting a dream of mine." - Sara Fielding
On a research trip, novelist Sara Fielding saved the live of Derek Craven, a renown owner of a gambling club. This chance encounter would forever seal their fate.

Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite romance writer. Character developments and story line are never a problem for her books because she create these very dynamic characters, whom readers learn to adore as the story progresses. With that being said, Dreaming of You, an earlier piece of Lisa Kleypas had me squealing in my seat. I swooned over Derek, whose presence outshine the author's other male characters.

Antics between Derek and Sara bring the story alive. They both come from very different background. Sara, a gentle hearted writer, whereas Derek is a force to be reckon with. Somehow they bring out a passion among one another that made me realized how much I missed reading Lisa Kleypas's novels.

Characters hop from one story to another. One of the author signature style of writing would be how a character made a short appearance in one book, but later on they receive a bigger role in another novel. Characters are not simply forgotten by the author, rather they appear some time again in her future works. In Dreaming of You, if the name Ivo Jenner does not ring a bell, then one should definitely look forward to reading Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3). where he has a starring role.

By way this will not be the last time readers will see of Derek and Sara, they will make an appearance in Against the Odds.

I came to reading this book not knowing it's a sequel to Then You Came, part of the Gamblers series. To those who plan on picking up this book, make sure to read that one first. I would recommend this book and any books by this author because they are that good.

Rating: 4/5 stars

C-DRAMA REVIEW: When a Snail Falls in Love

When a Snail Falls in Love left me with quite a first impression that I ended up marathoning the whole series or the current episodes already released online. I kept telling myself “patience is a virtue” as I waited for the last two episodes of this crime thriller. Although I have been spoiled for the ending, I still waited for English subtitles because I wanted to see how it all ends.
Straight from the start, this drama intrigue viewers by its unique title, When a Snail Falls in Love, which simply draws us in. It’s a figurative saying; it’s not about an actual snail and lion. In this case, the snail is Xu Xu, who is clever when it comes to psychoanalyze a crime, but slow when it comes to love. Ji Bai is the lion in terms of his fierce and brave ability to pursuit crimes and love. Two polar opposites; yet they make a perfect crime solving duo.

DRAMA RECAPS: 7 First Kisses Episode 3 & 4

Previously on Seven First Kisses, fairy godmother Choi Ji Woo granted Soo Jin’s wish of getting her first kiss by allowing her to meet seven mysterious men with “kiss” number one given by Lee Joon Gi. Just right after the kiss, she came back to present time and met her handsome boss, Park Hae Jin aka potential kiss number2.
EPISODE 3:  Park Hae Jin  Due to her using her cell phone during work, her boss inquired her to work overtime with him. When she walked into his office, she expected there to be lots of works to be done; rather she ate dinner with him. He seeing it was already late said he will take her home.

FIRST & LAST IMPRESSIONS: Medical Examiner Dr. Qin (C-Drama)

I intentionally meant for this to be a first impressions post, but somehow it led to the lasting impressions and review of this crime action Chinese drama. The title of this drama was what initially drew me into watching it since I am a fan of the American television show, CSI (Crime Scene Investigators). As luck would have it this drama is very similar to CSI; yet different in its own ways. Similar in that the opening song sounds very much like the one for CSI with several different beats and it follows Qin Ming (played by Zhang Ruo Yun), a chief forensic investigator for the Chinese police as he solve crime cases. The different in that its very fast pace.
