Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan Review

Mr. Penubra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
After looking through numerous job ads, Clay finds himself in front of Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, where a help wanted sign plastered on a window. A couple of days later, he finds himself working the night shift when he meets customers, who grab books from an unique section of the store. From there begins to track the books that customers check out to uncover secrets behind Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore that dates way back.

Sloan's enthusiasm leaped through the pages of this book. After reading a couple of pages, I noticed how excited Sloan in his tale of a mysterious bookstore in San Francisco. I felt happy to read a book, where the author is so passionate about his work. This endorphin feeling got me through the story line. Although I got to say the author appeared to be very into this one particular tech company that he went fanboy whenever he mentioned it, which was more than half of the book.

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore hyped readers up in the beginning, but slow lost its momentum in second half of the book. The author build this great suspense of about a mysterious bookstore and it's origin. By the time secrets were revealed, I was not what I thought it would be.

When it all comes down to it, I must say I recommend this book to anyone, who enjoyed work by a passionate author, and curious as to what really went down in a 24-hour bookstore.

Rating: 4/5 stars

Fun fact: The book glows in the dark!
