February Book Series Spotlight (B.S.S.): Wallflower Series by Lisa Kleypas

A new section I want to introduce to my blog, where I would discuss about book series I had really enjoyed reading, and it would be called "Book Series Spotlight."
The Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas
Valentine's Day is right around the corner, this book series spotlight (BSS) feature my all time favorite romance series, the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas. Each book title is base upon a season. There are a total of five books: Secrets of a Summer Night, It Happened One Autumn, Devil in Winter, Scandal in Spring, and a Wallflower Christmas. Again the Magic  is a prequel, which doesn't need to be read in order to understand the rest of this series.

(left to right) Secrets of a Summer Night, It Happened One Autumn, Devil in Winter, Scandal in Spring, and A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas

Let's start in the summer with Secrets of a Summer Night, which introduces four girls, who meet at a ball and the first member this group. Annabelle, Lillian, Evie and Daisy form the group called Wallflowers. Annabelle Peyton, whose family is going through a financial crisis. As luck would have it, she catches the eyes of Simon Hunt, a wealthy entrepreneur of the locomotive industry, but he is not the marrying type. Through numerous encounters that appears as though they were cat and mouse games to realized they have somehow found a place in each other heart.

Based upon the synopsis, it seem cliche, but there are so much more written within the pages. Annabelle is an independent girl, who puts her family before her that she is willing to scarify her own happiness to marry a gentleman for money. Simon is truly attracted to her, but he doesn't want to marry or that was what he thought at first. There were time when I wanted to put these two in a locked room, so that they can sort out their problems. Summer heat is soothed away when leaves on trees begins to change colors.

Leaves began to fall when Lillian Bowman and Marcus (Lord Westcliff) sees pass their fuse in It Happened One Autumn. They met previous in Secrets of a Summer Night since Lillian is Annabelle's friend, and Marcus is a good friend of Simon. Lillian planned to find an eligible noble British men, which led her to meet Lord St. Vincent, but he was more than she bargained for. No worries because Marcus and Lillian will find a way into each other hearts.

It Happened One Autumn was a humor book to read. Bickering between Marcus and Lillian to be entertaining. At time I found her character to be a bit too much to handle. While Marcus is a true gentleman compared to how defensive he was portrayed in Secrets of a Summer Night. Since all leaves have fallen from trees, winter is here.

The weather is getting cold now in Delvil in Winter, where Evie (Evangeline) Jenner, a daughter of a wealthy gambling club owner, personally seek and offer Lord St. Vincent a proposal that is hard to deny. A term was set upon by Evie in which after their wedding night they cannot make love. This would have been easy for Sebastian if only his body doesn't crave to be with her so such since he got a taste of her on their wedding night.

It might have been set during winter time, but it made my heart melts in the process. This is my favorite book out of the series due to the intense love between the couple. A big applause to Kleypas for transforming Sebastian from notorious playboy/rake to a hero. Once winter is over, flowers are able to grow in spring.

Daisy Bowman, Lillian's younger sister, is forced by their father to marry Matthew Swift, so flowers will blooming in Scandal in Spring. At first it was not a love match since they have known each other for quite a while; not to mention she disliked him. It will all changed when she sees him again.

Love blossomed in the forth book. Daisy is a quirky girl, who enjoys daydreaming, whereas Matthew is an intelligent and sensible gentleman, whom as a soft spot for her. If only she knew. This couple is another one of my favorite because of how they tend to gravitate toward each other. He is able to spot her out in a crowded room. I was literally laughing out loud when I read her antics toward him; I won't say much, but they drove him up the wall.

It's Christmas season in A Wallflower Christmas when Rafe Bowman, Lillian and Daisy's older brother, comes to London. His father had arranged for him to meet Natalie Blandford, but before he can, he meets her cousin and companion, Hannah Appleton, who he finds himself drawn to.

The last book in the Wallflower series brought a heart warming feeling in my heart. I was thrilled when to see the author incorporated the Wallflowers into this book, especially the individual couple scenes. Rafe's character got me laughing so much with his sense of humor. It seem as though Hannah may have felt something for him in the beginning, but doesn't want to admit it, and she thought he would be more interested in Natalie, who I found to be simple. She did not stand out as Hannah.

I uploaded a video for this blog, so check it out.

C-DRAMA REVIEW: When a Snail Falls in Love

When a Snail Falls in Love left me with quite a first impression that I ended up marathoning the whole series or the current episodes already released online. I kept telling myself “patience is a virtue” as I waited for the last two episodes of this crime thriller. Although I have been spoiled for the ending, I still waited for English subtitles because I wanted to see how it all ends.
Straight from the start, this drama intrigue viewers by its unique title, When a Snail Falls in Love, which simply draws us in. It’s a figurative saying; it’s not about an actual snail and lion. In this case, the snail is Xu Xu, who is clever when it comes to psychoanalyze a crime, but slow when it comes to love. Ji Bai is the lion in terms of his fierce and brave ability to pursuit crimes and love. Two polar opposites; yet they make a perfect crime solving duo.

DRAMA RECAPS: 7 First Kisses Episode 3 & 4

Previously on Seven First Kisses, fairy godmother Choi Ji Woo granted Soo Jin’s wish of getting her first kiss by allowing her to meet seven mysterious men with “kiss” number one given by Lee Joon Gi. Just right after the kiss, she came back to present time and met her handsome boss, Park Hae Jin aka potential kiss number2.
EPISODE 3:  Park Hae Jin  Due to her using her cell phone during work, her boss inquired her to work overtime with him. When she walked into his office, she expected there to be lots of works to be done; rather she ate dinner with him. He seeing it was already late said he will take her home.

FIRST & LAST IMPRESSIONS: Medical Examiner Dr. Qin (C-Drama)

I intentionally meant for this to be a first impressions post, but somehow it led to the lasting impressions and review of this crime action Chinese drama. The title of this drama was what initially drew me into watching it since I am a fan of the American television show, CSI (Crime Scene Investigators). As luck would have it this drama is very similar to CSI; yet different in its own ways. Similar in that the opening song sounds very much like the one for CSI with several different beats and it follows Qin Ming (played by Zhang Ruo Yun), a chief forensic investigator for the Chinese police as he solve crime cases. The different in that its very fast pace.
